Summer Dance Camp

EDC Summer Dance Camp

(In conjunction with GEAR)

  • Held: May 25th- June 17th
  • Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Classes:
  • Tiny Tots: Ages 2 ½ – 5
      • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00-10:45 AM
      • Description: This class will introduce a structured environment while allowing children to recognize their own individuality and body mobility, keeping students entertained while learning fun dance skills.
      • Cost: $40 for all four weeks
  • Beginner’s Lyrical: Ages 6-10
  • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:45-11:30 AM
  • Description: This class gives students the opportunity to experience lyrical dance, which combines techniques and skills from ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Students will also explore how lyrical dance emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics to tell a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract.
  • Cost: $60 for all four weeks
  • Beginner’s Hip-Hop: Ages 6-10
  • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
  • Description: This is a high energy class that infuses the latest style of hip-hop dance. Classes will encourage students to be confident and step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
  • Cost: $60 for all four weeks
  • Intermediate Lyrical: Ages 11-19
  • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:15–1:00 PM
  • Description: This class is more advanced than beginner’s, but provides similar skills.
  • Cost: $60 for all four weeks

 

  • Intermediate Hip-Hop: Ages 11-19
  • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00-1:45 PM
  • Description: This class is more advanced than beginner’s, but provides similar skills.
  • Cost: $60 for all four weeks
  • PLEASE NOTE: For anyone wanting to take both lyrical and hip-hop, the total will be $100 instead of $120.
  • Specific Dates: May 25th, 27th, and 31st; June 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th, 15th, and 17th
  • How to Register:
    • To sign up for any of these classes, you must print the registration form, fill it out, and mail it in. The registration form is below. Please bring payment on the first day of class. Liz Walker will be teaching the classes with the assistance of Lindsey Brinkmeier. Classes will be held at the Elizabeth Community Building (402 West St.).

In conjunction with GEAR, Mary Berryhill of Stockton Dance Center will be teaching dance classes in Elizabeth this fall, starting Tuesday, September 8th, at the Elizabeth Community Building. Here is a tentative schedule for Tuesdays this fall:
4-4:45 Creative Movement 2 (Kindergarten age)
4:45-5:30 CM 3 (1-3 grades)
5:30-6:00 Hip hop (1-3 grades)
6-6:30 Hip Hop (4-7 grades)
6:30-7:15 Older dance (4th & up)
7:15-8:00 possibly a dance team class (Jr & Sr High) OR Adult if there is interest.

Dance Class Sign-Ups!

DANCE ‘N BEATS DANCE is offering a summer dance session in conjunction with GEAR. These classes will be held at the Elizabeth Municipal Building. The summer session will meet twice per week beginning Thursday, June 4 and ending Tuesday, July 14. The dance classes are only available during the summer; please see class description(s) for details:

Hip-Hop: Ages 6 -19

Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00PM- 4:00PM

Description: Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of hip hop dance. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

Cost:  $60 for all six weeks.

PLEASE NOTE:  For anyone wanting to take both lyrical and hip-hop, the total will be $100 instead of $120.

To sign up for any of these classes, you must print the registration form, fill it out, and mail it in. CLICK HERE FOR THE REGISTRATION FORM. Please bring payment on the first day of class. There are two instructors per class. They will split classes based on ages and skill levels. These are the same classes that some of you completed a survey for earlier in the year. Please complete a registration form if you are still interested. Classes are in Elizabeth at the old school (former Highland campus) in the gym and in the Village Board room (Room 139).

Sign-Ups!

GEAR is offering more opportunities than ever for youth this spring and summer! Registrations for baseball, softball, and soccer will take place the next two Saturday mornings (Feb. 14 and 21) in both Elizabeth and Hanover Gyms from 9:00-12:00. Forms can be filled out then or returned to Mr. Knauer at school. All forms and money are due by March 13th. Soccer season will start in late March, softball in early May, and baseball in late May. If you can’t make it to sign-ups, just print off the forms (see links below) and send them in to school by March 13th.

Also, we’re trying something brand new:  Youth Dance! But we need your feedback so we know how many classes to offer. If you’re interested, please print the survey below and return it to Mr. Knauer by March 1st for consideration. Thank you!
